Glidden Mustang

In 1977 Bob Glidden raced this 1970 Mustang built by Don Hardy and used a 366 Ford Cleveland engine he built by himself and what a car is was. Bob set new records with his 8.76 E. T. and 164.63 mph, and he won the World Finals, the Fall nationals, Grand nationals, and the Cajun Nationals and was runner up at the US Nationals.

Bob finished second in season point standings to Don Nicholson’s 1970 Mustang. The two cars were so dominate that NHRA moved quickly to change the rules and eliminate their cubic inch to weight and wheelbase advantage. According to Bob “This star-spangled Mustang was one beautiful Pro Stocker that could flat out run in the 8′s.” Bob Glidden went on to win 10 Pro Stock season championships in 16 years including five consecutive titles from 1985-1989 and was inducted into the Motorsports Hall of Fame of American in 1994.
